Three cheers for adventurous couples! I love exploring new spots and shooting in new places.

Sometimes couples ask me if I’ve ever shot somewhere before, as if it was a negative if I hadn’t. (Not these guys!) I can honestly say, at least for me, that I think it’s an advantage coming into a place I’ve never been to before to shoot. It’s like having fresh eyes to see things that sometimes get missed when a place becomes normal or too familiar. It’s a clean canvas. The mind is alert and ready for action.

I loved that Elya and Matt were up for exploring a spot in Manitoba I’d stumbled upon on our road trip and wanted to shoot at. We shot this entire session on the road and the side of the road and I’m loving it.
