I had the pleasure of photographing Amanda and Mark’s engagement session at West Hawk Lake a couple weeks ago. The ice had just come off the lake and the water was frigid to the touch. The air was so fresh with the feel of spring but muddled with hazy smoke from nearby wildfires. Bittersweet; the new and the dying together in one inhale. You can actually see the smoke billowing in several of the photos.

It was so special for me to realize while I was driving down the lane to the address that Mark and I were cabin neighbours my whole childhood and we never were aware! I love this land, the docks, the trees. All of it. It made me love Amanda and Mark a little more too (if that were possible. ;)) to know that we have this special place in common! I can’t wait for their wedding coming up at Deseo Bistro next month!
